LTI setup

Key Settings

Cambridge University Press Courseware uses the following configuration data to be used when creating a Developer Key in the Canvas Site Admin settings:

1. Public JWK

https://cambridgeup.junction.app/server/lti1.3/jwks

2. OpenId Connect Initiation Url

https://cambridgeup.junction.app/server/lti1.3/openid

3. Redirect URI

https://cambridgeup.junction.app/server/lti1.3/redirect

4. Target Link URI

https://cambridgeup.junction.app/server/lti1.3/course_id

The Administrator of the Canvas LMS will then set up the LTI 1.3 external tool using these and will choose a title for the tool that the instructor(s) will understand but note that this should not be specific to the course/program in case there are multiple programs at the institution using the external tool. A good example would be “Cambridge University Press Courseware” as opposed to “Psychology”.

Here is a screenshot from Canvas:

The Administrator will need to set up the external tool with public privacy permissions (that is under Additional Settings) for Canvas to share users roles, family and given names, and email addresses.

Additionally, the tool will need to have access to the following scopes:

 https://purl.imsglobal.org/spec/lti-ags/scope/lineitem
https://purl.imsglobal.org/spec/lti-ags/scope/lineitem.readonly
https://purl.imsglobal.org/spec/lti-ags/scope/result.readonly
 https://purl.imsglobal.org/spec/lti-ags/scope/score
https://purl.imsglobal.org/spec/lti-nrps/scope/contextmembership.readonly

In Canvas these are under LTI Advantage Services and have been given human friendly descriptions - they should be the first 5 in the list when opening up the LTI Advantage Services and need to be checked “on”.

See this screenshot of how the scopes are named and the public privacy setting:
